Do you need to buy a driver before going to the driving range?

Short answer: not always. If you are going once or trying golf for the first time, check club hire first. If you plan to keep practising, a forgiving beginner driver can make range sessions easier.

Going once?

Call the range and ask if they hire clubs. Buying a driver for one visit is usually not needed.

Going regularly?

A forgiving driver or used starter club can be useful if you want to practise every week.
